Ashley Chambers joins the U's

CAMBRIDGE United have signed Ashley Chambers from York City until the end of the season with the option for a further 12 months.

The wide midfielder and striker joins from the Minstermen having made over 100 appearances for the club since 2010.  Chambers was the clubs top scorer in the 2012/13 season, scoring 10 goals in 42 appearances.

23-year-old Ashley joined Leicester City as a youngster, signing a professional contract in 2005.  He became the Foxes' youngest ever first-team player making his debut at the age of 15.

Chambers had loan spells at Wycombe, Grimsby and York before joining York on a permanent deal in May 2011.

Director of Football, Jez George, stated: “We are delighted to have signed a player of Ashley’s pedigree and quality.  We have worked really hard to make this happen once we knew that York City were willing to allow him to leave on a free transfer.  He will be an exciting player for our fans to watch and a really good addition to our squad for the second half of the season and hopefully beyond.”
