MATCH REPORT | CAMBRIDGE UNITED 0 STEVENAGE 0

Cambridge United held Sky Bet League Two’s form side Stevenage to a 0-0 draw at the Cambs Glass Stadium.

With the visitors arriving in Cambridge with nine wins from their last 11 League matches, Shaun Derry’s men did brilliantly throughout the first half in nullifying Darren Sarll’s side.

Only a half chance for Boro dangerman Matt Godden on 20 minutes saw Will Norris called into action.

In fact it was United who had the better of the opening 45 minutes, with Luke Berry going closest on two occasions when he got on the end of Mingoia’s cross on 30 minutes, before firing wide after a sublime first touch moments before the break.

United continued to battle well with the Hertfordshire side up to the hour mark and with the game finely poised Shaun Derry introduced forward duo Adam McGurk and Barry Corr.

The latter was straight into action, firstly winning the U’s a free kick 20 yards from the Stevenage goal before flicking a header marginally wide from the resulting set piece.

Despite United continuing to press forward, Stevenage showed what threat they still posed, when Godden was presented a golden opportunity on 70 minutes, only to whistle his effort inches wide of the far corner.

The U’s had the final opportunity of the fixture when Brad Halliday lofted an excellent delivery from deep into the 18 yard box where Berry rose highest to acrobatically shape an effort goalwards but it dropped over the cross bar.
