MATCH PREVIEW | CHELTENHAM TOWN – HOME

Cambridge United will play host to Cheltenham Town at the Cambs Glass Stadium in Sky Bet League Two tomorrow afternoon.

The U’s have taken 19 points from their last ten fixtures in Sky Bet League Two and will be confident of extending that run this Saturday against the Robins to move closer to the top seven.

Tuesday night’s 1-0 win over Notts County at Meadow Lane, in which Conor Newton scored his first for the club, saw the U’s bounce back from a sickening late goal by Aaron Pierre in last weekend’s tussle with Wycombe Wanderers at the earliest opportunity.

Newton will face a late fitness test having left the field midweek with a hamstring problem, whilst Medy Elito is unlikely to be involved. Josh Coulson received the news that the ankle injury he sustained against the Chairboys may require surgery and is set for a lengthy spell on the side lines.

However, having picked up three wins from their previous four games in all competitions, the U’s head into the weekend in fine form.

Meanwhile, Cheltenham Town are looking for their first win in five Sky Bet League Two fixtures.

The Robins have found life tough since returning from the National League last season at the first time of asking, and currently take up 23rd position in the table following Tuesday night’s 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Colchester United.

Former U’s boss Gary Johnson, who enjoyed promotion success with United alongside John Beck in the early 1990s, will be without star man Harry Pell for the clash after the midfielder was shown a red card, however they will be hopeful Billy Waters can add to his six goal tally so far this season.

The sides are tied on three wins each in the overall head-to-head records, with the U’s last win over Cheltenham coming back in February 2005.

Tickets for the match can be purchased online, in-store or by calling 01223 566 500 with a £2 saving available for those buy before midday on Saturday.
