CAMBRIDGE United are delighted to announce a pre-season tournament involving Shakhtar Donetsk, Espanyol and West Ham United on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July. 

The format of the Absolute Travel Cup will be two fixtures on each day, similar to that of the Emirates Cup.  The matches will kick off at 2pm and 5pm on each day at the R Costings Abbey Stadium. 

Ashley Gowing, Managing Director of Sports Travel International said: "We are delighted to be sponsoring the inaugural Absolute Sports Travel Cup and look forward to this becoming a regular feature on the calendar. These are exciting times for Cambridge United and this new event represents a great opportunity to see the club on an international stage." 

He continues: "The teams that we have invited all have a tradition of playing attractive football and a great reputation for the development of young players." 

Director of Football, Jez George, said "This is something we have been working on for a long time.  We wanted to do something in pre-season that's different and would really capture the imagination of our fans.  Our academy has been playing in tournaments throughout Europe for many years and play against Premier League clubs throughout the season.  

"Therefore rather than playing the usual types of pre-season games we have worked with Ashley (Gowing, Sports Travel International) to bring over two clubs, one of which plays every year in the champions league, and the other that competes in La Liga against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.  Both clubs will be bringing senior teams including players with first team experience and West Ham United will field an Under 21 team comprising of their youngsters."
