U's 3-0 Tamworth

Cambridge United overcame Tamworth 3-0 this afternoon at The R Costings Abbey Stadium.

Luke Berry netted twice for the U's while Adam Cunnnington scored from the spot.

The U's almost took the lead two minutes in, Adam Cunnington denied a certain goal, had his effort blocked by a Tamworth defender six yards out.

Harrison Dunk and Ryan Donaldson came close for the U's, as did Nathan Arnold.  Tamworth also had chances to take the lead, Chris Maxwell saving well from a Wayne Thomas header.

On 38 minutes the deadlock was broken, Luke Berry was brought down in the box by The Lambs' Jordan Rose and Adam Cunnington slotted home the resulting spot-kick.

Tamworth started the second-half brightly, but it was the U's who extended their lead on 58 minutes, Luke Berry finishing after Nathan Arnold was denied by Tamworth stopper Dale Belford.

The U's almost made it three a minute later, a quick free kick saw Nathan Arnold one-on-one with Belford, the visiting keeper smothering Arnold's shot.

The Visitors were down to ten a few minutes from time, as Jordan Rose saw a second yellow for his foul on Mitch Austin.
