Cambridge United 1-0 Barrow AFC

FULL TIME: Cambridge United 1-0 BARROW AFC

21.29: GOAL CAMBRIDGE UNITED 1-0 BARROW AFC. Wow, where did that come from. Ball worked wide by Gash to Dawkin, and his low cross finds Andy Pugh. Although the ball bobbles up off the striker's feet at first, he keeps his cool and lashes a shot past the helpless Pearson. His first for the club, and timely one at that!

21.27: Final change for United, Hughes on for Eades. Mackreth has come on for Barrow, replacing Cook who had an evening to forget in front of goal.

21.23: Pugh to Gash, to Pugh, who tries the curler and only succeeds in rolling a tame shot into Pearson's hands.

21.16: Half-chance for Pugh there, Gash nods down a free kick but the former Welling man can't get enough purchase on his close-range header and Pearson makes the save.

21.12: Good direct run from Dawkin forces a throw, then a corner for the U's, he looks a lively customer. Here comes the corner, it gets a flick off McAuley at the near post, hits Kevin Roberts and flies wide.

21.04: Another let-off, Cook reaches the loose ball after Naisbitt spills Smith's shot but can only blaze over the bar. Another sub for the U's, Tiryaki off, Gash on.

20.59: United make their first change, Josh Dawkin is on for his home debut in place of Thorpe, who's done pretty well in an unfamiliar role.

20.56: Tonight's attendance is 1,651, 54 away fans.

20.51: Amazing, Barrow should be in front. Shaw's pass forward cut out and Skelton works it forward to Boyes who's in the clear. His shot is beaten out by Naisbitt and with the whole goal to aim at Cook scuffs the rebound horribly wide. That's a let off.

20.48: Yellow card. Thorpe sprints clear on the break for United and plays it to Roberts, who is taken out by Edwards. That's a booking for the left back, and Jennings free kick is put behind by Skelton. Corner, which Jarvis takes and is headed clear.

20.46: We're off again, no changes to either side.

HALF-TIME: Cambridge United 0-0 Barrow AFC

20.30: That's half-time, no added minutes, which is a bit weird. 0-0 at half-time, United ended the half well but it's been pretty even, though Barrow have come the closest.

20.28: Great stuff from Thorpe, who gets one-on-one with Edwards, tricks his way past the veteran left-back, and fires in a low cross which is put behind by Hone with Tiryaki lurking. Corner is headed but worked back to the taker, Jarvis, then Thorpe, whose cross is headed wide by McAuley.

20.20: Tiryaki fouled by Lomax, not sure about that, looked the other way to me but whatever. Jennings free kick comes in and hits McAuley, who does well to react and stab a shot at goal which Pearson comfortably saves.

20.15: Andy Pugh's slide-rule pass almost puts Tiryaki in, but Hone tackling back does just enough to put the striker off and force the ball back to his keeper.

20.11: Rutherford forces the corner off Eades, Barrow enjoying a good spell here. Smith's delivery is decent and Cook meets it but flicks his header wide.

20.07: Ooh, that's the closest we've come so far, Barrow's Cook hits the inside of the post with a powerful shot. Rebound comes back to Cook who can only shin the ball behind udner pressure from a couple of defenders. The initial shot looked a certain goal.

20.04: Thorpe forces Owen to put the ball behind for a U's corner. In it comes, it's half away, Jennings finds Roberts, who's curling cross bounces off a gaggle of players and Pearson snaffles the loose ball.

20.02: Tiryaki holds the ball up and finds Shaw, who plays it wide to Eades in space. He cuts inside and measures his cross, but Tiryaki's header loops over.

19.57: Former U's defender Phil Bolland in the Barrow team of course, and he's just fouled Andy Pugh to hand United a free kick. They've kinda gone backwards from a good position though, until Pugh forces the throw off Lomax. The throw is in to Tiryaki, who slips it round the corner to Pugh but he's penalised for a foul on Hone, free kick Barrow.

19.54: Rutherford hoiks a cross into the box which bounces off a couple of heads before Roberts and Thorpe between them complete the clearance. 19.50: Good positive play from Jack Eades, who sprints down the left and finds Tiryaki, whose shot is into the body of Pearson, who just about holds on at the second attempt.

19.45: The game is underway, Barrow kick off but United soon on the front foot and have a throw down in the right corner.

19.42: Bit of a surprise to see Thorpe starting ahead of Berry, but he obviously gives the team a different option with his pace. The team's are out. Barrow's Paul Edwards is starting his third spell with the Bluebirds having rejoined the club on loan from Fleetwood this week.

Cambridge United: Naisbitt, Roberts, Jennings, Coulson, McAuley, Thorpe (Dawkin 58), Eades, Shaw, Jarvis, Pugh, Tiryaki (Gash 65). Subs: Gash, Berry, Hughes, Dawkin, Hudson.

Barrow: Pearson, Lomax, Edwards, Bolland, Hone, Rutherford, Skelton, Owen, Smith, Boyes, Cook. Subs: Nicholas, Mackreth, Ray Harvey, Turner, Dixon.

19.20: TEAM NEWS: One change for United, Jonathon Thorpe comes in at the expense of Luke Berry, who's on the bench alongside MIchael Gash, returning from injury. Barrow include ex-United defender Phil Bolland, and recall Adam Boyes, who was on the bench on Saturday.

19.00: Good evening and welcome to the R Costings Abbey Stadium for tonight's match, Cambridge United against Barrow AFC. Jez George's U's will be looking to build on Saturday's victory at Stockport by getting back to winning ways on home turf, while for the visitors it's a chance to bounce back quickly after Saturday's 2-0 defeat to title-chasing Wrexham.
